Hunt Information

Safety

Safety is always at the top of our list while in the field! Your gun will not be loaded until your guide has instructed you, and you understand your shooting lanes for the days hunt. Your gun will be pointed in a safe direction with the safety on at all times. Your safety will be in the fire postion only when the shot has been called by your guide. No Alcohol is permitted in the field at any time. We have a safe and sober policy. If any member of the Rainmaker staff feels that you are not safe with your shotgun or under the influence of drugs or alcohol, you will be asked to leave the field and you forfeit your money for the hunt.

  • 12 Gauge shotgun and plenty of shells. 3 inch or 3.5 inch non-toxic shot size 2-BB. We suggest 3-4 boxes per day.
  • Camo clothing for warm and cold weather,  Rain gear or water proof clothing for wet conditions. Spring weather is very unpredictable so come prepared.
  • Knee boots or field boots for both warm and cold conditions. If conditions become wet or muddy waders are good idea to bring along.
  • Face mask either in camo or white.
  • Snacks and drinks (NON ALCOHOLIC) for the days hunt.
  • Extra padding for layout blinds is optional, such as a workout mat. If you decide to bring one closed cell foam mats work best, the do not absorb water.
  • Cooler and cleaning supplies for transporting your birds home. Our guides and staff will assist you at the end of the days hunt with the bird cleaning. By law a wing must be attached to the breast for identification purposes. Storage of cleaned birds is your reponsiblity.
  • Dog blind for private field hunts if you are bringing a dog.
  • A positive attitude, a sense of humor, and the willingness to have fun. Remember it is called hunting not killing.
